Dr. Douglas Shamp started his practice in Maple Grove in 1983 and has seen the growth and success of this community. He attended the University of Minnesota where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in General Science. He continued there to complete his dental degree and has been an instructor in the School of Dentistry for 20 years. Dr. Shamp continues to attend many post graduate courses and has recently completed an extensive course in Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Shamp is a member of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, Minneapolis District Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Shamp has served on numerous dental committees and organizations including the Minneapolis District and state Peer Review committee of which he served as the chairperson. He is currently on the Evidence Based Dentistry Committee and has been a researcher and presenter for DPBRN- "The Dental Practice-Based Research Network (DPBRN)" is a consortium of participating practices and dental organizations committed to advancing knowledge of dental practice and ways to improve it.
Dr. Shamp has been married for 38 years and has 3 children, 4 grandchildren and one new grandchild on the way. In his free time he enjoys time with his family, fishing, water sports, hockey, church activities, wood working and traveling.
